Zeti Akhtar Aziz

Former Governor of the Bank Negara Malaysia

Tan Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz served as Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia from May 2000 to April 2015. She had a key role in monetary policy formulation and implementation, and in ensuring the stability of the Malaysian financial system. She had an important role in managing the resolution of the financial system in 1998 during the Asian financial crisis and the consequent strong recovery of the Malaysian economy. She is currently co-chair of the Board of Governors of the Asia School of Business, established in collaboration with MIT Sloan. Dr. Zeti received her Bachelor of Economics from the University of Malaya and her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
