Yoshinori Nakata

Director-General, International Department of the Bank of Japan

Mr. Yoshinori Nakata is currently Director-General of the International Department of the Bank of Japan. Mr. Nakata joined the Bank in 1988 and has worked in various areas with a focus on international relations, financial markets research and prudential policy. He was most recently, Deputy’s Deputy for the Bank of Japan at G7 and G20 meetings, as Deputy-Director General of the International Department. He has also represented the Bank in various international committees and working groups of the BIS (Basel Committee on Banking Supervision <Chairman of the WG on the Definition of Capital>, Committee on the Global Financial System) and G20 (Framework Working Group). Earlier in his career, he was seconded to the secretariat of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision at the BIS between 1998 and 2002 working on international bank capital regulation.
