Dr. Kaufman-Shriqui is a faculty member at the School of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition Sciences at Ariel University, Israel, and an affiliated scientist in the Affiliated scientist, the Center for Urban Health Solutions (C-UHS), St., Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Kaufman-Shriqui’s research focuses on investigating social, economic, and environmental causes of nutrition-related chronic diseases among various populations. Specifically, she focuses on (1) understanding how built environment features integrate into the development of nutrition programs in urban settings. (2) documenting disparities in nutrition-related diseases and child growth patterns based on socioeconomic factors. (3) Examine the influence of food policies on health professionals across socioeconomic strata.

For example, she studied the influence of the “At Home/Chez Soi” housing intervention on obesity and food insecurity. She used the Community Child Health Network (CCHN) multi-site USA based data to study residential adversity’s effect on maternal cardiometabolic risk. Additionally, she has led the Survey on Dietary Changes and Anxiety During the Coronavirus Pandemic (TARUS) study and community-based intervention trials to reduce childhood obesity.

In her research, she focused on developing culturally adopted methods and vulnerable populations while drawing upon her mixed methods and community-based research expertise. She is strongly committed to conducting research that informs public health policy. As such, the majority of her research studies have an identified plan for knowledge translation.
