Samuel Worzie

Assistant Information Minister of Liberia, Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT)

Assistant Minister Worzie is a Liberian statesman, technocrat, philanthropist and politician. He holds a BBA Degree in Accounting and Management from the African Methodist Episcopal University, a BSC in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Liberia; and a Master of Science in Finance and Systems from the Cuttington University Graduate School in Liberia. He holds several advanced diplomas in Investigative Journalism, Procurement and Supply chain, Computer science and Monitoring and Evaluation. Mr. Worzie is happily married and a father of five (5) children.

Mr. Worzie in early 2000 when he joined the Liberia Seaport Police. Mr. Worzie and later served in sundry positions at the National Port Authority of Liberia where he served as; Gangway supervisor, Head of Imports, Exports, Assistant Statistician for Documentation and Statistics, Financial Secretary of the Dock Workers Union of Liberia and Operations Coordinator.

Mr. Worzie is also the founder and Board chairperson of the Graduate Students Association of Liberia (GRASAL), the parent advocacy body that represents all graduate students in Liberia. He is a devoted Christian a member of the Liberty Christian Center.

In December 2010, Mr. Worzie was recruited as Procurement Manager by the Board of Directors of the National Transit Authority (NTA) of Liberia under the government of former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. He worked successfully in revamping by strengthening the institution’s capacity to provide low cost and affordable transportation to the people of Liberia.

Mr. Worzie chaired two senior management committees, namely the Management and Workers committee and the Report Committee at the National Housing Authority

Mr. Worzie served in other capacities including as Financial Consultant-National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Administrator-Project Implementation Unit (PIU)-Liberia Airport Authority (LAA),

Mr. Worzie also served as Secretary for Strategic Planning of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf political party for seven (7) years, from 2009 to 2015. Mr. Worzie launched the Association of the Masses for Change (AMCHA)-a pro-democracy and social justice group.

The following year, after many attempts for his membership, he finally joined the Congress for Democratic Change(CDC). In few months to the October 2017 elections, he was appointed by the party standard Bearer, and now president of the republic of Liberia (His Excellency George Manneh Weah) as National Public Relations Officer and Head of the Bureau of Strategic Planning of the party.

In August 2017, few months to the conduct of the general and presidential elections, Mr. Worzie was appointed by the governing council of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) as Director of Press & Propaganda of the Media Coordinating Committee.

Mr. Worzie worked with other members of the Media Coordinating Committee to execute strategies that led to the Coalition for Democratic Change victory in December of 2017.

Following the inauguration of His excellency President George Manneh Weah on January 22, 2018; Mr. Worzie was appointed as Assistant Minister for Information Services at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism(MICAT)-the government arm that is responsible for information dissemination, coordination, evaluation and as well as regulate the tourism and culture sectors of Liberia.
