Jeff Curry

Director, Deloitte & Touche LLC

Jeff Curry is a director in the governance, regulatory and risk practice within Deloitte & Touche’s Enterprise Risk Services Group. He primarily serves the mid-tier banking and other financial services companies in the areas of enterprise risk management (ERM), stress testing, financial risk management and regulatory risk management. Jeff’s focus has been on the development and enhancement of comprehensive ERM frameworks, risk governance structures, risk policy development, risk metrics and reporting, risk reporting, risk analytics, risk/control assessment processes and other dimensions of the ERM process. His career emphasis has also been on financial risk management, including market risk management, liquidity management, asset/liability management (ALM), financial modeling/analysis, and model validation. Jeff also assisted a number of federal regulatory agencies in establishing risk-based examination programs.

Jeff began his career at US Central Credit Union, a wholesale central bank for the credit union industry, where he was one of the original employees. Also in the early years of his career, he held various positions in financial and risk management capacities for a number of large financial services firms, including Citicorp, First Interstate Bancorp and First Nationwide Bank. Jeff was a senior official with two bank regulatory agencies. At the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), Jeff was an assistant director in Washington D.C., where he managed a team that monitored the risk exposure and financial condition of the top 25 troubled thrifts. For his work at OTS, Jeff was awarded the Secretary of the Treasury’s Annual Performance Award (1991). Jeff then helped to start the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO), now the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), as the first senior capital markets officer of the agency.

After OFHEO, Jeff joined The Secura Group (Secura), a boutique regulatory and risk management consulting firm, where he built the financial consulting team and developed Secura’s ERM consulting approach and practice. Secura was started in 1986 by William Isaac, former chairman of the FDIC and other senior regulatory officials. Secura was then sold to LECG LLC (LECG) and later to FTI Consulting Inc., where Jeff continued to focus on financial, risk and regulatory consulting, as well as litigation-related consulting. Jeff is a member of the Steering Committee for the Washington D.C. chapter of the Professional Risk Managers International Association (PRMIA), is a frequent speaker on financial and risk-related issues from banking trade associations and educational organizations, and is a frequent contributor to industry newsletters and trade publications.
