Eric B. Parnell, CFA, is Chief Market Strategist at Great Valley Advisor Group, based in Berwyn, PA. Eric has more than 20 years of investment management experience. In 2005, he founded Gerring Capital Partners, a Registered Investment Advisor. Prior to launching Gerring, Eric served as the Director of Investment Communications for SEI Investments and as an Economist at Moody’s Analytics. Eric applies his expertise in finance and economics to manage multi-asset portfolios, mitigate risk, deliver advice that promotes informed decision-making, and facilitate investors achieving their short-and long-term investment goals.
In addition to his investment work, Eric is an Assistant Professor in the Business & Economics Department at Ursinus College, where he has served as a full-time faculty since 2014 teaching courses in finance, investments, economics, and research methods. Eric launched the Finance Scholars program at Ursinus to prepare students to take the CFA Level I Exam after graduation. Eric also runs an annual CFA Ethics Challenge Competition. Before teaching at Ursinus, Eric was a full-time visiting professor in the Department of Economics & Finance at West Chester University where he was a five-time recipient of Outstanding Faculty Honors. Eric is an active member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia and the Global Interdependence Center.
Eric is a published author and appears in the financial media, including CNBC, CNN, Money Matters TV, NPR-Marketplace, and CFA Magazine. He is a regular contributor to Seeking Alpha with articles focused on macroeconomic outlook and diverse asset class themes. He has published over 1,200 articles on Seeking Alpha since 2008 with many selected as Editors Picks, and he has procured more than 30,000 followers on the platform.
Eric is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder. He holds an MS Finance from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dickinson College with a BA Economics and a BS Mathematics.
