Diane Swonk

The Wall Street Journal named Diane Swonk as one of the top forecasters in the country. She is also designated as one of the most influential women in business in Chicago by the Chicago Sun-Times. She was rated as one of the most accurate economic forecasters in 2010 by MSNBC. She is one of the most respected economists in the world and among the most quoted economists in the financial press. Ms Swonk serves as an adviser to the Federal Reserve Board and regional Reserve Banks. She recently completed her second term of service on the Congressional Budget Office’s panel of economic advisers. She has more than 20 years of experience in financial services. She previously served as director of economics/chief economist and senior vice president for Bank One corporation and its predecessors. She was designated Business Leader of the Year by the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago. She was also named a Fellow of the National Association of Business Economics (NABE) for her outstanding contributions to the field of business economics.

Ms Swonk is author of The Passionate Economist: Finding the Power and Humanity Behind the Numbers. She is seen regularly on national and international television. She has published several nationally acclaimed studies. She also serves as a clinical professor for DePaul University’s highly rated evening MBA program.

She earned a B.S. from the University of Michigan, with honors, as well as an M.S., with honors. She also has an MBA from the University of Chicago, with honors.

She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She is also a co-chair of the Finance Committee of the Executives’ Club of Chicago. She is a former member of the Congressional Budget Office Panel of Economic Advisors. Additionally, she serves as a board member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, as well as an adviser to the economic department of the University of Michigan. She is an advisory council member of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.  She is also a member of the Membership Committee of the Economic Club of Chicago. In addition, she is former chair of the City of Chicago Climate Change Finance Committee. She is a member of the Conference of Business Economics. She is a former board member of The Joffrey Ballet. She also serves as an advisory board member of The Chicago Conservation Center. She is a past president of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE), as well as a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Council on Economic Education.
