Alison Gardner

Senior Vice President – Financial Advisor, RBC Wealth Management

Alison Gardner has enjoyed 35 years in the financial services industry. She is Senior Vice President in the Wealth Management division and, as a Senior Portfolio Manager, utilizes quality fundamentals with a rules-based technical overlay for performance, risk management and to remove emotion. She maintains a rigorous focus on both analytics and investment knowledge.

Starting her financial advising career in the early 80’s has given her plenty of experience with both fear and greed. This has shaped her belief that risk management and capital preservation can be achieved through a combination of investment counsel, advanced planning and relationship management.

Prior to choosing RBC, Alison spent 33 years at Morgan Stanley (and predecessor firms). She worked on Wage and Price Controls as a Finance Analyst at Celanese Corporation after stints at both US and international publishing firms. Alison’s volunteer activities focus on students, our investment in the future. She sits on the Board of Directors for the New College Foundation. New College is the honors college of the Florida State University system, located in Sarasota; she chairs the Investment Committee, and participates in the Governance Committee. Alison is involved in Take Stock in Children and its alliance with Sarasota Ballet’s Dance the Next Generation. She is also a Big Sister in the local Big Brothers, Big Sisters program.

As a Certified Reiki Master, Alison seeks balance in life. So when she is not practicing yoga, target shooting, reading or cheering at Sebring race track, she relishes spending time with her husband Jan and their standard poodles. Ten children and grandchildren offer plenty of opportunities for travel.

Alison received her MBA from New York University Stern School and Certificat d’Etude from La Sorbonne in Paris, France. She did her undergraduate work and received a BA Magna Cum Laude from Duke University.
