Vesa Alatalo

Vesa Alatalo is managing director and country manager of SKF Finland and a member of the Nordic management team.

Alatalo, 45, oversees the strategic direction of the Finnish operations with 170 employees in Espoo, Muurame and Oulu. SKF is a leading global technology provider operating in over 130 countries world-wide employing around 50 000 professionals. The SKF technology platforms include bearings and units, seals, mechatronics, services and lubrication systems.

Alatalo became country manager in September 2014. Between August 2007 and November 2010 Alatalo served as sales director in SKF’s OEM business in Finland.

Until September 2014, Alatalo was CEO of Vaahto Group Plc Oyj, where he focused on specific growth enablers, including important global relationships, leadership initiatives and development program performance.

Before that, Alatalo served as head of waste to energy and biomass business segment of Konecranes, establishing and managing a new business line. Earlier, he was head of workstation lifting systems business line and managing director of Konecranes Lifting Systems GmbH in Austria. He started in Konecranes as product line director in December 2010.

Earlier, Alatalo held global product line manager position in Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy, sales and business development director position in Orbis Oy, Managing Director position of Orbis Solutions (Hong Kong) Ltd. in China and head of operations in the Asia region position of Orbis Oy.

Alatalo is a member of the board of directors of Tamtron Group.

Residing in Lahti, Finland, Alatalo holds a master’s degree in business administration from Swansea University, and bachelor’s degree in engineering from Jyväskylä Institute of Technology. He is CleanTech-oriented and follows closely environmental issues.
