Lewis Hower

Lewis Hower is the executive director of the James Lee Sorenson Center for Global Impact Investing (SGII). Prior to the creation of SGII, Mr. Hower served as the marketing manager for the Sorenson Housing Opportunity Fund, an affiliate of Huntsman Gay Capital Impact, where he focused on fundraising and finance operations for the project which invests in the creation of affordable housing and finance products for the working poor of India.

Previously, Mr. Hower managed finance and operations for Unitus Investment Group where he worked in the development of innovative for-profit approaches to solving some of the world’s most profound social challenges. Unitus Investment Group was the for-profit affiliate of the global microfinance accelerator Unitus, Inc. (now Unitus Labs). While at Unitus Investment Group, Lewis worked with the founding team of Unitus Capital during their early stages while spinning out from Unitus, Inc. Today Unitus Capital is the world’s first private and independent financial advisory and investment banking firm specializing in arranging capital for microfinance institutions and other social enterprises and has successfully arranged over $700 million in debt and equity financing for social enterprises to date.

Mr. Hower currently serves on the Board of Directors at the Community Foundation of Utah where he is the co-director of the committee for entrepreneurship and is focused on innovating new models of social and business development for community engagement. Lewis holds a B.S.E. in bioengineering from Arizona State University where he spent time working in startup biotechnology research and small business operations.
