Jukka Pietikäinen

Ambassador Jukka Pietikäinen holds a master’s degree in social sciences from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland. He entered diplomatic service in 1985. Ambassador Pietikäinen´s professional career has focused on bilateral diplomacy as well as on UN related matters. His previous postings abroad include Switzerland, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Argentina and also New York, where he acted in the role of political counselor at the Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations from 1997 to 2000. During 2000-2003 Pietikäinen served as a director at the Department for Press and Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Helsinki. In 2003 he was appointed as minister counselor at the Embassy of Finland in Mexico. In 2007 Pietikäinen travelled back to his respective home country to serve as director of unit for Latin America and the Caribbean. After this, in 2008, he returned to Latin America as Finland´s Ambassador to Argentina with accreditations to Uruguay and Paraguay. Ambassador Pietikäinen became the consul general of Finland in New York as of September 2012.

Mr. Pietikäinen´s native language is Finnish. He is fluent in English, Swedish and Spanish, and he also has working knowledge of German and French.
