Jean C. LaTorre

Jean C. LaTorre, CFA, is the Chief Investment Officer and Corporate Economist of Aetna Inc. in Hartford, Connecticut.  In this role, she oversees and directs Aetna’s $26 billion diversified investment portfolio.  Ms. LaTorre also oversees Aetna’s Large Case Pension business as well as Aetna’s own $13 billion of retirement assets.

Prior to her appointment as Chief Investment Officer in February 2008, Ms. LaTorre successfully directed the Fixed Income/Portfolio Management Group for six years.  She joined Aetna in 1991 as an Investment Officer providing credit analysis for portfolio managers of Aetna Inc. and its subsidiaries.  In April 1993 she assumed the position of Corporate Bond Specialist, and in 2000 she assumed responsibility for trading high-yield bonds.  From 2002-2007 she headed Aetna’s Fixed Income department.  Prior to joining Aetna, she was an Assistant Vice President with Municipal Bond Insurance Association, and she began her career in the Public Finance Division of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York.

Ms. LaTorre holds a BS in Business Administration and English from the State University of New York at Albany and an MBA in Finance from The Stern School of Business at New York University.  She is a Chartered Financial Analyst.  Ms. LaTorre maintains a commitment to the community by serving on the Board of Trustees for KingswoodOxford School and the Investment subcommittee of Hartford HealthCare.  She is also an executive sponsor of Aetna’s relationships with Hartford Habitat for Humanity, Hartford YWCA and Hartford region March of Dimes.
