Jan Bureš

Chief Economist of Patria Finance and member of the KBC/ČSOB Group economists team. It focuses on the analysis of the German economy and the Czech economy. He pays special attention to monetary policy and financial markets. He graduated from the University of Applied Sciences. Before working in the banking sector, he worked as a head of research at the Institute for European Policy Europeum and as an analyst at the Czech Statistical Office. He is the co-author of the publication “Costs and Benefits of Adopting the Euro”. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as a member of the Economic Advisory Team (EPT) of the government’s crisis staff.

It focuses primarily on the analysis of the Czech economy and the economy of the Eurozone. It pays special attention to the effects on the foreign exchange and bond markets.
