Irina Shaorshadze, Ph.D.

Irina Shaorshadze is an Economist and Investment Strategist whose research integrates global macroeconomics, financial markets, geopolitics, and public policy. Most recently, she served as a strategist at Bank of America, where she drove commodity quantitative investment strategy and developed innovative market solutions, drawing on her prior experience within the firm’s economics and global risk management teams.

Previously, Irina was an economist at the World Bank, leading analytical studies across Yemen, Egypt, Tunisia, and Kosovo. Notably, she advised the Yemeni government on petroleum subsidy and social safety-net reforms while residing in Sana’a. She has served as CSWEP fellow at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and held fellowships at the University of Cambridge’s Energy Policy Research Group and Institute for New Economic Thinking.

Irina holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a Master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University. A published researcher, she is a past President and current leadership advisor for the New York Association for Business Economics, serves on the programming committee for the Fixed Income Analysts Society, and is a member of the NABE Economics Careers Roundtable and a member of the Bretton Woods Committee. She speaks six languages and is an avid rock climber and equestrian.
