Payment Systems in the Internet Age

The Global Interdependence Center (GIC) hosted an afternoon program on financial technology in San Diego on February 6, 2017. Payment Systems in the Internet Age featured officials from the Federal Reserve Banks, including Patrick Harker, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, as well as experts with extensive backgrounds in digital currencies, monetary policy, and the security and regulatory realities of digital transactions. Speakers discussed topics such as “Central Banking in the Digital Age: What is Money?” and “Bitcoins, Distributed Ledgers and the Payment System: Opportunities and Challenges.”
