In 2007, Peter A. Gold, Esq., a resident of Philadelphia, PA., Phoenix, Az. (former resident of Cherry Hill, NJ) formed TheGoldGroup, LLC, a consultancy to universities, colleges, businesses, not for profits and others. The Firm visions and advances initiatives centered on identifying and leveraging resources and assets and accelerating innovation to marketplace through creation of value driven public-private partnerships and other means.

Gold’s work in New Jersey, Arizona, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC. has included assessing a new aerospace institute for Arizona State University and Science Foundation Arizona; Launching the North American Supply Chain Management Institute based at the University of Toledo, College of Business Administration; and assessing a new Health Science Campus and Community at the Richard Stockton College in collaboration with the largest regional health care system and others.

Gold was a founder and first CEO of Rutgers Camden Technology Campus, Inc, a mixed use business Incubator for new businesses and entrepreneurs located in Camden, NJ (America’s poorest City). In two short years Gold’s team created an environment which supported 35 newly created businesses, 120 jobs with a payroll in excess of $6 million and also private sector and venture investments of in excess of $6 million.

Gold’s prior experience as a senior partner, member of the board, and business lawyer in one of American’s largest law and government relations firms
coupled with his experience as Associate Provost of Economic Initiatives and Senior Associate Dean of the School of Business of Rutgers University, and former member of the Board of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority has contributed to his network of relationships (global) and/ knowledge base in the following areas:
                       

  • Collapsing the time between innovation and marketplace;
  • Support mechanisms for new technologies and new companies;
  • Elements of and creating effective public-private partnerships;
  • Federal, national, regional, state and foundation  funding programs and mechanisms (US EDA, SBIR’s , other);
  • Venture Capital firms, angel capitalists, their requirements, how they work, etc.
  • International, national and regional equity lenders ;
  • National defense, aerospace, transportation, automotive, energy  businesses and stakeholders;
  • National and international professional resource associations  (e.g. Ass’n. of University Research Parks, National Ass’n. of Business Incubators, State Science and Technology Institute);
  • Issues, challenges and solutions regarding aspects of the provision of health care in the United States

Board Experience:  Gold also serves as an independent outside member of boards of directors of Jet Pulverizer Company, located in Moorestown, NJ and the Evergreen’s, a not-for-profit continuing care community.

In the health field, Gold is also one of three members in PermaGraft, LLC, which has a developed a unique and effective method and product to assist in the treatment of end-stage renal disease and dialysis. The Company is in the process of monetizing its intellectual property.

Government/ Public Service:  Gold has served in several government positions (non-compensated) including:

            Member - Board of Directors of the N.J. Economic Development Authority
            Member - N.J. Governors Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect
            Member - Camden Innovation Zone Advisory Board
           
Academic and University  Experience:   For several years Gold was a member of the adjunct faculty of the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania where he originated and taught a business course in the Management Department entitled “The Legal Aspects of Management”. He instructed graduate students on how to use the law to obtain business objectives.   

For sixteen months starting in January 2006 Gold was Associate Provost for Economic Initiatives and Senior Associate Dean School of Business at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Camden.  As a member of the University’s leadership team he integrated the University’s activity with those of the Region’s Business, not for profit and government communities. He was instrumental in bring millions of dollars of state, federal and private sector funds to the University.
