Peter Gold is Associate Provost for Economic Initiatives at Rutgers University, Camden Campus. He is also the CEO of Rutgers Camden Technology Campus, Inc., a technology business incubator affiliated with Rutgers, located in Camden, N.J. Rutgers is New Jersey’s public research and teaching university with 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 12,000 faculty and staff. The Camden Campus consists of the schools of Business, Law, Arts & Science, and Nursing. Gold assists the Provost in pursuing and implementing economic development initiatives in the tri-state Region. His responsibilities also include interacting with Local, State, Federal, and International Governments and their officials. As Provost for Economic Initiatives he is also charged with integrating academic interests with the interests of the business community.
As CEO and Board member of the Rutgers Business Incubator, which he helped found, he has chief management responsibilities for selection of Incubator-Client tenant companies, their development and economic success. Currently the Incubator is 100% occupied and is home to 35 start-up companies which collectively have a $6million payroll, 155 employees, and have received approximately $6million in mostly private sector investment. The Incubator is also developing approximately 20,000sq.ft. of wet laboratory space in the Waterfront Technology Center in Camden for domestic and foreign life science , bio tech, and pharma start-up/ spin-out companies.
Prior to joining Rutgers, Gold, an attorney and lobbyist, was a full equity partner in one of the nation’s top 100 Law and Government Relations firms where he was in the Business Department and counseled businesses of all sizes from start ups to Fortune 100. He served on the firm’s Board of Directors, Political Action, and other committees.
Gold was a delegate to the 2004 GOP nominating convention in NYC. He was a member of the Board of the N.J. Economic Development Authority and Co-Chaired the NJ Technology Council’s Government Affairs Committee. He is a member of the Camden Innovation Zone Board where he contributes to policy setting for economic development initiatives in the Region. He also serves on the Board and the Executive Committee of the Global Interdependence Center, a think tank based in the Region which fosters global dialogue and interdependence activities. He is also a Board member of the Evergreens, a continuing care community located in Moorestown N.J.
Gold is a graduate of the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University and a magna cum laude graduate of School of Law, Temple University. He is married and has two children. |
