Alois Global Trade Strategies, LLC

Mr. Alois retired from the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service in October 2005 after 32 years with the U.S. Department of Commerce. Upon moving to the Philadelphia area, he created Alois Global Trade Strategies to continue to promote international trade.

During his career with Commerce, he worked in Washington, D.C., Miami, FL and on four continents. His achievements as a diplomat ranged from persuading NASA to exhibit in its first international fair (1983), to launching a preregistration review of IPR data by the Government of Ecuador with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (1989), to leading the only trade mission for American companies into Iraq as of this writing (2004). He still remains the only Officer to have created  one of Commerce’s innovative global industry teams (safety and security equipment, in 2002).

Among his civilian awards, Mr. Alois received the Vice President’s “Golden Hammer” Award for Reinventing Government and also the Director General’s Award for Assistance to Minority Exporters. Peter was qualified in Spanish, German and Italian.

He served three years with the U.S. Army as a Thai Linguist. While in Vietnam in 1970, he worked in civil affairs in economic development, and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Mr. Alois has a BSFS in International Affairs from Georgetown University (1972), and an MBA in Applied Economics from George Washington University (1979).

Mr. Alois quickly became active in his new home. He is the first Chairman of the Global Interdependence Center’s new Greater Middle East Committee which focuses on broad issues of the region such as media, demographics and energy. In October 2006, he was invited to be on the Advisory Panel for Pennsylvania’s Market Access Grant, and he is an Associate Member plus Congressional District liaison of his former agency’s District Export Council.
