On October 20, 2009, the Global Interdependence Center presented its founder, Fred Heldring, with the Global Citizen Award. Remarks were made by members of the GIC community including William C. Dunkelberg, GIC Board Chair, Robert Palmer, Former GIC Board Member, Peter Benoliel, Chairman Emeritus, Quaker Chemical Corporation, Gilbert Heebner, Former Vice Chair GIC Board, and Michael Heavener, GIC Board Member and Executive Vice President, Wachovia Bank, A Wells Fargo Company. GIC is proud to acknowledge individuals who have embodied GIC’s mission through their lives’ work. We honor these individuals with the Global Citizen Award and the Frederick Heldring Global Leadership Award. The Global Citizen Award is awarded to Fred Heldring in honor of his lifelong commitment and strong advocacy for GIC’s efforts to pursue the globalization of our worldwide communities through increased knowledge, understanding and partnership.
